LOVEBIRDS
Fischer -- Dark Eyed Clear
I only started with Lovebirds quite recently, and I freely admit, it was to get some 'Blue Birds' in the aviaries, as you will see I have a lot of reds and yellows. I decided to get 'Black Masked Blues' to start with, as their cheeky upright stance, combined with the clear cut markings, was appealing.
Fischer -- Dominant Pied Sable Violet Cobalt
I looked on-line and found the web site of Mark and Ellen Dronsfield who live not that far away. I phoned and went up to see them. I was taken with their complete enthusiasm, dedication and integrity, and as I knew nothing about the species, I just listened, (and learnt a lot). Mark is an encyclopaedia on 'Lovebird' genetics.
Fischer -- Blue Edge
I got originally masked in Cobalt and Albino, having since added a Pastel Cobalt/poss.Albino, --- see bottom pic. -- and more recently Dominant Sable Pieds Fischers (only one bird needed to produce more of the same colour), -- in Cobalt and Violet, I have only produced 'masked' to date, but I hope the Dominant Pieds will produce soon.
Fischer -- Dark Eyed Yellow
I also have a pair (I hope are a pair !) of Dark Eyed Yellows (clear), (which are very similar to Lutinos) they are recessive, plus a Blue Edge (Blue part is Recessive, the Edge is Dominant) which, as with the dominant pieds, only one bird is needed to produce the edge factor, -- it is called blue, but is a turquoise to my eye, the colour is darker around the edge of every feather, (lighter in the centre), hence the name, it appears as if 'pied' but is uniform in distribution, being on every feather.
